The South Hams, Devon
Situated in the South Hams village of East Charleton, midway between Dartmoth and Salcombe and just 2 miles from the ancient market town of Kingsbridge at the head of the Salcombe Estuary. Three of the beaches in the South Hams have been awarded Blue Flag status and six the 'Rural Beach Award.
This area of Devon with coast, countryside and moor has something for every taste and is uniquely beautiful with the majority of the area designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The South Hams includes the historic towns of Totnes, Dartmouth, Kingsbridge & Salcombe - which are all close/within easy reach and all have a unique character of their own. The area is also renowned for it's picturesque villages scattered along the 60 miles of spectacular coast and five river estuaries.
The beaches in this part of Devon have won more awards than any other area in England in the Tidy Britain Group Rural Beach Awards. Blackpool Sands and 11 other South Hams beaches have been awarded top honours in national Seaside Awards.

There are a surprisingly high number of excellent places to eat. Almost ever village has a pub or restaurant and nearly every one serves good, sometimes great, food.
The area attracts people with a wide range of interests, for example,
- miles of costal paths for walkers
- Slapton Ley and East Prawle are poplar with bird watchers
- there are some spectacular golf courses
- Dartmoor and the moorland villages are an easy drive
